General
I am committed to preserving the privacy of all clients. Please read the following privacy policy to understand how I use and protect the information that you provide to me.
What information do I collect from you?
I will request your name, email address, and project details when you contact me. I may also require a sample of the work to be proofread/edited.
In the event that we agree to work together, I will request your postal address (which I may include on invoices). I will also ask for a contact number and the file(s) required for the work.
Financial information
I do not collect any financial information. On receipt of my invoice for services you will be asked to pay by an appropriate method.
What do I do with the information?
All of the personal data I hold about you will be processed by me. It will be used to contact you to enable me to perform the agreed work and to collect payment for my services. Your name (or your business name) and general details of the service I am providing (i.e. project size and general description, hours worked, and agreed fees) will be stored on spreadsheets I use to keep track of my accounts. I will share this data with the IRS in the event that they require it as part of an audit.
I may also share details of the work I have performed with the Chartered Institute of Editors and Proofreaders (CIEP). This would be to demonstrate my experience and professional development when applying to upgrade my membership to one of their higher professional levels. I would not include contact details unless this was specifically agreed with you beforehand. Details of the CIEP’s privacy policy can be found here.
I may periodically send promotional emails to you, using the email address that you provided, about special offers or other information which I think you may find interesting. You will always be given the opportunity to opt out of such mailings.
Security
I am committed to ensuring that your information is held securely and so work with reputable hosts. However, the nature of the internet means that information sent electronically can be intercepted, therefore any information you send me is at your own risk.
Emails are stored on my password-protected email account. I do not have an external address book. Files are stored on my hard drive and/or in a password-protected Cloud account.
